You may know that imbalanced hormones can affect a variety of areas in your life, but did you know it can also affect your love life and sexual health?

Imbalanced hormones can result in vaginal dryness and a lowered sex drive…

As women age, both estrogen and progesterone levels start to decline. Add to this the other modern lifestyle factors in America such as chronic stress, toxins and an improper diet and you’ve got the perfect formula for a worsening hormonal imbalance. The fast-paced lifestyle we live also explains why more and more women experience pre-menopausal and menopausal symptoms earlier than they used to. According to studies, 30% of women as early as their 20’s and 30’s suffer from vaginal dryness. And that percentage increases to 75% of women in menopause.

These lifestyle factors as well as the aging process can wreak havoc on our hormones causing a myriad of symptoms, including vaginal dryness, discomfort with sexual activity, and a diminished sex drive.

A drop in estrogen levels reduces the amount of moisture available in the vagina and it can happen at any age from a number of different causes. Unfortunately, progesterone levels drop dramatically after menopause because progesterone is produced when we ovulate. Since this hormone is no longer being produced, it can bottom out resulting in worsening symptoms.

Even if you are only suffering with these symptoms occasionally right now, after menopause they become more severe and can lead to more serious female health conditions.

Vaginal dryness and low libido can impact women long before menopause.

How does balancing hormones naturally help improve sexual health?

We want you to live a healthy and energetic sex life, and with the help of our programs and natural hormone balancing creams, you can!

By raising progesterone levels in the body naturally, through our Becoming Balanced hormone balancing and weight loss protocol, or our plant-based progesterone cream, your body will begin to make the proper amounts of estrogen, if needed. This will help your overall vaginal health as well as improve your sex drive.

Progesterone will also help stimulate the nerves in the vaginal for better sexual response. Lastly, progesterone will keep your insulin hormone, which affects blood sugar levels, in check. Balanced blood sugar will increase circulation to the vaginal walls and help maintain proper moisture levels.

By managing stress with our relaxation techniques, as well as our adrenal support cream, you help give your body the building blocks it needs to make and balance cortisol, without stealing progesterone, helping to balance your hormones even faster and more completely. When your sex and stress hormones are balanced, your body will have the materials it needs to maintain vaginal lubrication and healthier vaginal walls to prevent painful intercourse.

Some practical ways to enhance your sexual experience:

What you eat and drink matters.

If you’re planning a romantic evening out with your partner, it’s tempting to order a decadent meal, like pasta which is heavy in carbs, grease, and salt. Tastes good going down, but the after effect is often bloating, gas, and a blood sugar spike. This is obviously not ideal for a good sexual experience.

Choose meals that include protein and healthy fat, avoiding carbs and sugar as best as possible. This will help you feel light, energetic, and aware, with a much better opportunity for a great sexual experience, instead of ending up in a food coma.

Have a cocktail if you drink alcohol, but just one, no more than two! Alcohol in small amounts can set the mood for relaxation and lower inhibitions.

When choosing what to drink, we recommend low sugar cocktails or dry wines. Sugar causes blood sugar spikes which can lead to hot flashes and poor sleep. Aim for clear liquors like Tequila or Vodka mixed with soda water and muddled fruit or lemon or lime juice.

Rethink that perfume.

We know that certain smells are a natural aphrodisiac.

But when it comes to most traditional perfumes, you could be throwing your hormones further out of balance. Most perfumes contain a wide range of ingredients, some of which include xenoestrogens or compounds that can act as endocrine disruptors.

Xenoestrogens are compounds that mimic estrogen in the body and can disrupt hormonal balance. They are often found in various synthetic chemicals, including those used in fragrances and perfumes.

To minimize exposure to xenoestrogens in perfumes and other personal care products, look for products made with natural ingredients or essential oils instead. Additionally, being mindful of ingredient labels and choosing products with fewer synthetic chemicals can help reduce exposure to potential xenoestrogens.

Instead of perfumes, try using essential oils, naturally scented lotions, or a candle to set the mood.

Sents that naturally put you “in the mood” include:

  • Vanilla – Known to stimulate arousal in both men and women. It is fruity and earthy. Vanilla also relaxes and brings about feelings of warmth and connection.

  • Lavender – Lavender is soothing and relaxing and known to put you in more of a slow and seductive mood.

  • Ylang Ylang – soft and sweet. Ylang Ylang is well known to stimulate feminine sexuality and euphoria. Ylang Ylang is great to relieve nervous feelings and brings about calmness.

  • Jasmine – Jasmine is well-known for stimulating the emotional part of the brain. Jasmine helps with reducing tension and fear.
